Our insights

The study involved 28 healthy men who were part of a winter swimming club. They took a 3-minute cold bath in a cold lake once a week during the winter swimming season. Blood samples were taken before the bath, 30 minutes after the bath, and 24 hours after the bath to measure different substances in the body. The researchers found that regular exposure to cold water increased the body's defenses against harmful substances. This led to a decrease in signs of stress in the body before and after the cold bath. The study suggests that taking short cold baths regularly can be a helpful way to improve our body's defenses against stress.
