Effortless ice bath cleaning with Icetubs
At Icetubs, we know hygiene is key when it comes to ice baths. That’s why we’ve designed our Icetubs to make maintenance a breeze, ensuring a clean and hygienic experience with minimal effort. From quick water changes to simple filter upkeep, every detail is engineered for ease. Whether you’re emptying, refilling, or deep cleaning, keeping your Icetub fresh and sanitary is easy and efficient—so you can focus on your cold therapy, knowing your tub is always in top condition. After all, your time should be spent in the tub, not maintaining it.
Keep your ice bath clean with our guide
Ensure the Icetubs Engine™ remains on at all times. Its built-in ozonator continuously purifies the water, preventing bacterial growth. If the engine is turned off, bacteria may develop, particularly as the water temperature increases. Only turn off the engine if you plan to empty the tub for an extended period (e.g., during vacations).
A clean filter is essential for water flow and cleanliness. Replace the filter monthly, or more frequently if usage is high. A clogged filter can restrict water flow, potentially damaging the cooling system. When replacing the filter, you don’t need to empty the tub. Simply twist the old filter off and attach the new one.
We’ve partnered with AquaFinesse to offer a water care solution specifically designed for Icetubs and ice baths. AquaFinesse simplifies water maintenance without harsh chemicals, keeping your water clean, balanced, and safe. Regularly adding the recommended amount ensures your Icetub stays in optimal condition, allowing you to enjoy cold therapy with minimal effort.
Although our Icetubs are designed to keep your water fresh for extended periods, it’s still necessary to replace the water occasionally. Depending on usage, this can range from every 1 to 2 months. For instance, if you frequently enter the bath after a workout without showering, live in a more humid climate, or skip the use of AquaFinesse, you’ll likely need to refresh the water more often. Keeping the bath covered when not in use will also extend the water’s freshness and reduce the need for frequent replacements.
Always cover your Icetub with the provided Thermo cover when it’s not in use. This helps prevent debris like leaves and pollen from contaminating the water. Leaving the tub uncovered increases the risk of larger particles blocking the filter, which can restrict water flow to the cooling engine, potentially leading to damage or complete failure of the Icetubs Engine™.
Protect your ice bath equipment during the cold season
Winter months require extra care to keep your Icetub in top shape and ready for use whenever you need it.
Protect your Icetubs Engine™ in freezing temperatures
The Icetub Engine™ is built to last, but when temperatures dip below 23°F, we recommend disconnecting the cooling unit and storing it indoors to prevent freezing. If you prefer to keep the engine outside, set it to Automatic Mode. This mode heats the water to 37.4°F, preventing the unit from freezing while ensuring it remains functional during winter.
Shield your Icetub from the elements
To keep your Icetub safe, use the provided caps to seal any openings once the engine is removed. This helps maintain the tub’s functionality through the winter, so it's always ready for your next cold therapy session.
Keep your Icetub cool in hot weather
Hot summer weather can put extra strain on your Icetub's cooling system. By following a few simple steps, you can make sure your Icetub keeps performing at its best.
Shield your Icetub from the sun
Direct sunlight increases the workload on the cooling engine, which leads to higher energy use. To reduce this strain, place your Icetub in a shaded area. This not only helps the engine but also extends the life of the wood, as prolonged sun exposure can change its color.
Indoor placement considerations
If you’re using your Icetub indoors, avoid placing it near saunas, steam rooms, or other heat sources. Excessive heat can wear down the unit over time, lowering its efficiency.
Account for humidity and salt
If your Icetub is in a humid or salty environment, like near the coast, the materials may be affected over time. Make sure the cooling engine has enough space for proper air intake and release. If you have any concerns about your location, our sales team can offer tailored advice.
Long live your Icetub
Our Icetubs are built with easy maintenance in mind, allowing you to focus on your cold therapy rather than on upkeep. Maintaining your Icetub is a straightforward task that requires minimal effort, ensuring it remains in excellent condition for the long term.
Effortless emptying and refilling
Emptying and refilling your Icetub usually takes about 30-40 minutes, depending on your water pressure. While this process is simple, we recommend doing a deep clean each time you refresh the water.
Deep cleaning for long-lasting quality
Deep cleaning gives your Icetub the extra care it needs. Use stainless steel cleaners to thoroughly clean the tub and remove any buildup that may have accumulated. Afterward, apply oil to the wood. This not only keeps your Icetub looking pristine but also extends the life of the materials, ensuring it stays a centerpiece for years to come.
Why deep cleaning matters
Regular deep cleaning preserves both the look and functionality of your Icetub. By maintaining the stainless steel and treating the wood, you protect your investment and ensure your cold therapy sessions stay as effective and enjoyable as possible.

FAQs
How do I maintain the water quality if I don’t use the tub frequently?
Even with infrequent use, keep the Icetubs Engine™ running to circulate and purify the water. You can also use AquaFinesse to maintain water chemistry between uses.
What happens if I forget to cover my Icetub after use?
If you forget to cover your Icetub, debris like leaves or pollen may enter the water. Clean the filter regularly to prevent blockages, and skim the surface if needed.
Can I add essential oils or other products to the water?
We recommend avoiding oils or additives that could affect the water chemistry and filtration system. If you wish to add anything to the water, consult with our team first to avoid any damages.
* Avoid chlorine, salts, or other corrosive chemicals as they can damage the stainless steel.
What should I do if I’m away on vacation or for an extended period?
If you're planning to be away for a longer period, we recommend emptying your Icetub, cleaning it thoroughly, and letting it dry before covering it with the Thermo cover. In winter or extremely hot weather, it's best to disconnect and store the Icetubs Engine™ indoors to prevent any potential damage from freezing or overheating. This ensures your Icetub and its components remain safe and in good condition during your absence.
Is it safe to keep the Icetubs Engine™ running continuously?
Yes, our Icetubs Engine™ is designed to stay on continuously. Keeping the engine running is essential for maintaining clean and safe water, as it powers the ozonator that prevents bacterial growth. While it’s fine to turn off the engine for short periods, such as a few hours, we don’t recommend turning it off for longer than a day. If you need to turn off the engine for an extended period, it’s best to empty the tub to avoid water quality issues.
Why do you recommend AquaFinesse for water care?
We’ve partnered with AquaFinesse, a leading brand in chemical-free and eco-friendly water care, to develop a product specifically for Icetubs and ice baths. This custom formula ensures your water stays clean and balanced without the use of harsh chemicals, making maintenance super easy.
* Avoid chlorine, salts, or other corrosive chemicals as they can damage the stainless steel.
What should I know about using warmer temperatures in my Icetub?
If you have the upgrade for the Icetubs Engine™ that allows for warmer water temperatures, it's important to note that bacteria can grow more quickly in warmer water. Because of this, we recommend cleaning and refreshing the water more frequently to maintain optimal water quality. Regular maintenance is key to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience, especially in warmer climates.
Do I need special tools to maintain my Icetub?
No special tools are required. Most maintenance tasks, such as replacing filters or deep cleaning, can be done with basic household items like stainless steel cleaners, wood oil, soft sponges and micro fabric clothes.
